The PA•1 Line Stage uses a simple design, combining both passive and active circuitry for the best compromise between sonic purity and needed gain.

The volume control works passively until the center detent is reached. At this point, the signal is coupled with a Class A, dual-mono amplifier for up to 6db gain. Unlike typical line stages, the PA•1 only amplifies the signal when gain is needed.

Connections include four inputs, one tape/processor loop and two pair of outputs.
