The use of a monolithic IC offers many advantages to standard discrete designs. Signal and feedback paths can be kept very short and only a small handful of components are needed to complete the amplifier circuit. The heart of any power amplifier is it's power supply. The VMB•1 uses a custom 300VA toroidial transformer and over 25,000uf of capacitance for robust bass performance and outstanding dynamics. The mute function puts the amplifier in a standby mode, allowing critical circuitry to be kept powered and eliminate any warmup period. Other features include short-curcuit and thermal protection, highest quality gold plated input jack and speaker binding posts, and detachable IEC type power cord.
